Difference Between Repointing and Tuckpointing

If you need masonry repair, it is easy to get confused at some of the terminology used, such as: what is the difference between the processes of tuckpointing and repointing? They are similar processes, but are involved in different applications. Both processes involve masonry contractors based, removing damaged mortar and replacing it. Repointing is the process by which old mortar is replaced by new mortar. Whereas tuckpointing is a similar process, here tuckpointing companies use mortar similar in color to the bricks, and a thin line of contrasting color is embedded down the middle of the new mortar joints. The difference between the two processes is in aesthetics.
